History

Green Top Snacks was started by John Edwards in l972 in the back of his butcher's shop in Pelsall, West Midlands, the heart of 'pork scratchings' country, and where the original pork scratchings were developed.

John was asked by the local pubs to supply them with a few bags a week, which went from strength to strength, with all the local pubs demanding more and more pork scratchings. John used to sell them in white bags, tied at the top with a green tape (hence the name 'Green Top').

In l974 John outgrew the butcher's shop and moved to a new factory, producing pork scratchings by the tonne for his customers. Word spread fast, and Green Top Snacks became a very successful producer. Green Top snacks now supply the retail sector, the cash & carry industry and the majority of public houses.
